Last night’s 0-0 draw between Atletico de Madrid and Barcelona has allowed Real Madrid a huge opportunity to close the gap on the joint leaders to just three points.
There is plenty for the two main Madrid papers to discuss this morning, and most of it focuses on the starting line up for Los Blancos as they visit Espanyol later this evening. According to Marca, Carlo Ancelotti only has one decision to make – whether to play Isco or di Maria. The rest of the team should pick itself, with the BBC trio starting up front. Stay tuned for more team news our our match preview.
Elsewhere, there is plenty of talk about the future of Fabio Coentroa. Both Marca and AS mention a report by the Daily Telegraph claiming the Portugal left-back will head to Manchester United on loan for the rest of the season. Coentrao was on the verge of a move to the Premier League champions back in August but the deal fell through at the last minute. He has seen his first team opportunities limited this year due to the form of Brazilian fullback Marcelo.
Finally, Marca carries an interview with Gonzalo Higuain, the former Real player now with Napoli. The Argentina forward claimed the move to Seria A was right for him, and he praised the Napoli fans for the reception they give him and for singing his name.
