Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo could be close to sealing a sensational return back to Manchester United, according to the Daily Star.
The tabloid claimed United manager David Moyes has targeted the Portuguese star – still a hero among the Old Trafford faithful – amid Madrid’s interest in Gareth Bale.
The paper said once the deal for the Tottenham Hotspur winger in confirmed, Los Blancos will allow Ronaldo to move back to the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to Manchester since last autumn when he suggested he was unhappy in Madrid. He has made no secret of his fondness for the Red Devils and his desire to return to the club one day.
The forward has scored 201 goals for Real Madrid in 199 games since making an £80 million move in 2009.
United get Ronny and Cesc and they win the English treble.
