Real Madrid legend Manolo Sanchís has hit back at Gerard Pique after the Barcelona defender encouraged his team mates to wind up Madrid after winning the European Super Cup.
The Catalan side defeated Sevilla 5-4 in Tblisi to lift the trophy and while much of the attention on the evening was on the imminent sale of Pedro – who hit the winner – it later emerged that Pique had made some disparaging remarks while celebrating.
As the players walked around the field with the cup, video and audio footage showed the defender saying to his team mates: “Lets go lads, let’s celebrate it. F*** those from Madrid, let them see us celebrate.”
And taking to social media, Sanchis, who played 710 games for Madrid in a 15 year career, responded to Pique’s taunts.
He wrote on Twitter: “Just shows what a big club Real Madrid is when the occupy the thoughts of their rivals even when they are celebrating a victory.”
Pique has made it something of a habit to try and wind up Madrid fans when Barcelona win. At the end of last season, he thanked singer Kevin Roldan for his part in Barca’s ttle win. The artist had performed at Cristiano Ronaldo’s much criticised 30th birthday bash just hours after Los Blancos had lost 4-0 to Atletico in La Liga – a defeat seen as the moment the pendulum swung in Barcelona’s favour in the title race.
the told giraffe have respect for madrid. rivalry is not up to this unprofessonal behaviour
May be someday his club would help him grow up, he has refused to grow up over years. Its only a child, and daft one for that matter, that thinks lollipop last forever.
He is just a some boy with little mentality and we don’t care about them. Real Madrid will forever remains to be the greatest team on planet earth.
And we wane call a childish prick like that a professional footballer. Lol noway sounds like Neymar is influenceing the whole team coz Messi has totoos now and headbutting players.
What a thrash comments. Pique is right, we are looking forward to dethrone RMD as the most successful club in the history of La-Liga and UCL. It’s a pity that RMD claimed most of their league and UCL trophies when the game of football has not developed. Imagine when the four, Six clubs are competing for UCL trophy, that that was the case when the likes of Di Stefano lead RMD to win UCL titles in five consecutive seasons. Just five more UCL trophies to level with them in Europe, and eight league titles to level with them in Spain, we almost get there. Pique is right and he’s speech was based on facts.
is okay if pique celebrate with confidence, but a bit respect to the madrid team,we the catalans are moving in grand style
I guess it’s all about maturity, Neymar, Pique, Alves, and a handful of Barcelona players take rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid too far, Eto’o was once on that mode also.
Manchester United – Manchester City, A C Milan – Inter Milan and a host of other teams are rivals but you hardly hear nasty comments from their players.
Football is a game meant to be enjoyed by fans not creating bad blood.
For Pique and his co baby boys at Barcelona enjoy the music while it last but remember its transient
We can blame Piques family for not advising him knowing fully well he has little brain and his obessesion of becoming spanish david Beckham is turning him into Ahmadinejad.Catalan independent is also playing a pivotal role in his life that makes him not to know the difference between football and politic.Barcelona management also has something to say to avoid this type of comments not to repeat itself.
As football lovers we do not care about who is big or who is small or who has won many cups than others…We just enjoy watching the beautiful game not statistics and records…Grow up pique and learn that some things don’t matter that much in life!!!
