Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti has upped the ante ahead of tomorrow’s derby by claiming no player in the current Atletico de Madrid team is good enough to get into the first 11 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The two clubs go head-to-head knowing that whoever loses will more than likely see their title hopes ended once and for all. As it stands, Diego Simeone’s men sit second in the table, eight points behind leaders Barcelona. Los Blancos are third, a point behind the Vicente Calderon side.
But speaking to AS, Guti, who made more than 500 appearances for the 10-time Champions League winners between 1995 and 2010, played down the quality of Los Rojiblancos and said not one of the current team would get into Zinedine Zidane’s starting 11.
“In my time to play at the Calderon it was an easy game against them. With ‘Cholo’ things are now much more complicated. Atletico is one of Real’s biggest rivals, but as a Madridista I like for them to always lose,” he commented.
