Real Madrid right back Danilo says the players are focused on La Liga and will work hard to put themselves back in the race to win the title.
Los Blancos won their final match before the winter break in emphatic style – thrashing Rayo Vallecano 10-2. Danilo opened the scoring at the Santiago Bernabeu with the other nine goals being shared by the BBC.
Rafa Benitez’s team were jeered early on after falling behind, but speaking to reporters Danilo said the players knew exactly what they had to do. And he added they are working hard to haul themsleves back into contention in the title race after recent defeats to Barcelona, Sevilla and Villarreal.
“We are happy with the result and the goals. I don’t think we went out there switched off. The most important thing is that we’re continuing our work, doing so as a team and that we turned the game around,” the Brazilian commented.
And he continued: “The fans are right, we are working for them, and we continue to work for Benítez too, he is a great manager. Our sights are still set on La Liga. We have to keep working and not think about what others are saying. We have to take things game by game, that is the most important thing.”
