Real Madrid remain at the top of Group A after earning a goalless draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital. Both teams have seven points, but Los Blancos goal average is better.
Both teams focussed more on defending than attacking, and that made the game a bit boring, with very few scoring chances.
Los Merengues were in control of possession from the start, but they failed to seriously threaten Kevin Trapp. Jese Rodriguez had the first opportunity to score as he received a pass from Toni Kroos, but the keeper denied his low effort.
Rafa Benitez men exerted a high pressure on their rival trying to steal the ball near their opponents’ box. In one of those occasions, Trapp denied Cristiano Ronaldo twice in the same play to save his team.
Right after the break, Edison Cavani could have made it 1-0 for PSG as he met a cross from Thiago Motta, but his effort just moved wide of the post.
With 15 minutes to go, Ronaldo was close to earning Madrid the three points as he received a pass from Marcelo inside the box but his effort from a wide angle just whistled wide.
Those were the only two serious chances of the second half, as both teams seemed to content themselves with a draw that leaves them both tied at the top of the group.
