Real Madrid need to be careful about their next move – if any – for Manchester United’s David de Gea, according to Ramon Calderon.
The two-time Player of the Year at Old Trafford was close to signing for the Santiago Bernabeu side on Monday night but the move broke down after one or both of the clubs failed to file their paperwork on time.
Having been at the centre of the never ending transfer saga this summer, de Gea was reported to be disraught at the outcome, while Los Blancos shot stopper Keylor Navas is also thought to angry at his treatment by the club after they tried shifting him out as part of the deal.
Talking to talkSport, Calderon said Real must be careful if they are to pursue de Gea in the winter window as they could upset him and further anger Navas.
“I thought they would go on with this in January. But this morning I heard Man U have offered to extend De Gea’s contract,” Calderon said.
He added: “Navas is going to be the goalkeeper in the starting line up, so Real Madrid must be careful. What is the attitude of Navas, playing with that pressure on him?
“The two victims in this situation are De Gea and Navas and they can become a problem for the clubs. The goalkeeper is the only one who can’t make a mistake; outfield players perhaps can miss a goal and nothing happens, but in the case of the goalkeeper it’s very big trouble.”
