Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez believes the price Tottenham Hotspur are asking for winger Gareth Bale is too high to make a potential transfer worthwhile.
The forward, who returns to the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday with his current side Al-Sadd for the Trofeo Bernabeu, said the 100 million euro asking price was prohibitive, adding that Los Blancos already have a good squad.
Speaking to Al-Sadd’s website, Raul said: “Bale is a wonderful player. I understand the Real Madrid board is working hard to assemble the best team possible. But the price is too high.”
Raul, who scored 323 goals in his career with Los Merengues, stated his belief that the team will go on to be successful under Carlo Ancelotti this season.
“Jose Mourinho did a very good job with the team, but Carlo Ancelotti is one of the best coaches in the world,” the 36-year-old was quoted as saying.
