Álvaro Medrán will play the next four season for Valencia CF after closing a deal between Real Madrid and Valencia. The midfielder played last season on loan in Getafe, team that couldn’t stay in first division, so Medrán was looking for a new club in the top división.
Álvaro Medrán made his debut at Real Madrid with Carlo Ancelotti two years ago but he was never in the plans for the club. Actually, last year he was on loan at Getafe, where he suffered an important injury at the beginning of the season. Afterwards, he played a good second half of the season but he couldn’t avoid the relegation zone and Getafe will play next year in the Second Division.
In his time in Getafe, Medrán played 20 games, scoring two goals and giving 499 crosses. He was an important player for José Antonio Pizzi at the end of the season, along with Pablo Sarabia, another former Real Madrid player and also target by Valencia.
Valencia will not play in Europe next season after failing to qualify in a really poor year for the ‘Chés’. Finally, Pako Ayestarán, the coach that was able to beat Barcelona at Nou Camp, will be the manager who will try to bring back Valencia to the top positions and fight for an European position.
This is the second signing for Valencia, after closing a deal with the Portuguese star Nani. Valencia was also interested in signing Denis Cheryshev but the Russian player finally chose to play at Villarreal, where he will enjoy playing the Champions League.
Real Madrid need to find new clubs for a lot of youngsters that should be come back after a year on loan in different teams. With some players Los Blancos are already having some troubles, like Lucas Silva, who failed to pass the medical tests at Sporting of Lisbon.
