Real Madrid is a buyer club. Every summer Los Blancos spend huge amount of money in buying the best players in the world. This strategy started when Florentino first arrived to Bernabéu and signed Luis Figo. After Zidane, Beckham, Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale… and a lot of players arrived. It was the new strategy of Real Madrid.

However, in this time Real Madrid have not only bought players for a huge amount of money, but the club has cashed almost 200M€ by selling some of the most important players of the squad. Florentino doesn’t want to sell the best players but if the footballer wants to leave, Real Madrid want to take advantage of the quality and earn a lot of money.

Mesut Özil was the first player who wanted to leave the club publicly. He wasn’t comfortable at Real Madrid after spending some games on the bench and decided to change club to win more trophies. He chose Arsenal and he wasn’t right. In the meantime, Real Madrid received 50M€ from Arsenal.

A similar story could be said for Gonzalo Higuaín. For many years, he was the main forward of Los Blancos but then, Karim Benzema arrived and took his place. He didn’t want to stay in the bench and look for another club. Finally, Napoli bought him for 37M€. This year, the Argentinian was the best topscorer in the history of Serie A.

The club record was marked by Ángel Di María. After winning the 10th Champions League title and having a key role in lifting the trophy, the Argentinian left the club, choosing Manchester United. Red Devils paid 75M€ to Real Madrid, in the most expensive sell in the club’s history. One year after, Di María changed Manchester for Paris.

Now the history could be repeated with Álvaro Morata or James Rodríguez. Juventus paid 22M€ two years ago and now Real Madrid bought him back for 30M€. If he is to be sold, the new club will have to pay more than 70M€, according to some reports.

If Paul Pogba or another star arrive to Real Madrid midfield, James Rodríguez will leave the club, almost for sure. Los Blancos paid 80M€ to Mónaco for the Colombian star, so the club is ready to cash the same quantity two years after.
