A recent poll carried out by Spanish sports daily AS suggests half of Real Madrid fans believe the club should sell Cristiano Ronaldo for between 100 million and 150 million euros.
Of the 30,000 questioned, 49.6% said the Portuguese front man should leave the Santiago Bernabeu if Los Blancos receive a huge offer. When asked what to do if the figure was between 50 million and 100 million euros, almost a third (32.5%) said the 10-time Champions League winners should sell. Just over 10% would sell Ronaldo if the offer was 50 million euros or less, the poll showed.
The 30-year-old, who netted 61 goals in all competitions last season, has a deal with the La Liga giants until 2018 and has said on many occasions he would like to see out his career at the club.
But talk of him making a return to Manchester United hasn’t quietened down, nor too rumours that he would like to end his playing days in the US, following in the footsteps of David Beckham and Raul.
Ronaldo endured some fractious moments with the Madrid fanbase last season, and was heavily criticised after his celebrated his 30th birthday just hours after the team had lost 4-0 to Atletico de Madrid.
Despite the poll by AS, there is no suggestion Ronaldo will leave anytime soon, even though Florentino Perez see Gareth Bale as his long-term successor as the star man at the club.
No need to sell Cristiano … No matter what the offer is, it will be a huge mistake to sell him.
