This season’s UEFA Champions League has been one to remember with some outstanding games , great comebacks and plenty of fantastic goals . The two best teams in the competition meet on Saturday evening in Kiev in a mouth watering final that could see the Champions League Trophy returning to Real Madrid for a record breaking third consecutive time.
Los Blancos have an entire squad of superstars and match winners but we have attempted to highlight the 3 players that we think could exert an important influence on the game :
Luka Modric
The Croatian midfielder is of course a very intelligent player and a fantastic hard worker, everyone knows the importance of Luka Modric in allowing Real to perform. The playmaker has bagged a goal and an assist in the Champions League this term. He also has 620 passes, 12 dribbles and 14 interceptions to his name in the competition .
Modric is excellent in possession and is likely to create chances for Ronaldo and others with his running and incisive passing.
Marcelo
The Brazilian full back has yet again been outstanding in the Champions League this term, scoring 3 goals and 2 assists. Marcelo is of course one of Real Madrid’s most dangerous offensive players , he can dribble , cross and create chances for his team mates and at the age of 30 has incredible stamina and fitness.
Marcelo has alreay scored against many European powerhouses including the likes of Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain during the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League and Liverpool will be hard pressed to contain the marauding left back .
Ronaldo
Of course all of the statistics regarding Cristiano are amazing but more than anything Ronaldo is a big game player with the quality and experience to perform to his best on the big occasion such as the Champions League Cup Final . Once again Ronaldo leads the goal scoring chart in the tournament with 15 goals to his name. He also became the first player to score in 10 straight matches in the Champions League !
His calmness under intense pressure is guaranteed and as well as goals from open play the Portuguese winger is the likely penalty taker for Real Madrid and very likely to be on the scoresheet.
Liverpool need to be worried about all areas of the Spanish team but we think these 3 star players will be the ones to fear most.
