Theo Hernández accomplished his dream of playing at Real Madrid. He is now one of the few players who switched from Atlético to Real in the Spanish capital. The player was unveiled on Monday at 19:30 local time with the president Florentino Pérez next to him.
Only three days after unveiling Jesús Vallejo at Santiago Bernabéu stadium, the president went back to the venue to present another player to the journalists. This time was Theo Hernández, who signed for around €26M with Los Blancos and completed his transfer from Atlético Madrid after one year on loan at Alavés.
“Thank you very much to the supporters and to the players for the reception. I’m happy to be in the best club in the world. I came here to learn from the best players and win many titles. Hala Madrid!”, said the player in the unveiling.
The player spoke about his change from Atlético to Real: “When you are little, everyone supports a team and your dream is playing in the top flight division. I played for Atlético and now I’m here because I chose to be here and it’s the best club in the world”.
Theo also spoke about his offers during the summer: “I had some team and this was the best option because here are the best players and I can grow with them”.
Theo Hernández will be Marcelo’s replacement in the squad as the left back. The French player will get Coentrao’s role in the team, who left Madrid to join Sporting Portugal, but hopefully he is better than the Portuguese. Coentrao couldn’t play many games last season, so Marcelo had to appear in most of the games, with the consequent fatigue. Now he could have some rest during the season, so he can arrive at his maximum to the crucial moments of the year. “Marcelo is the best left back in the world and I’ll try to follow his steps and try playing some games”, Theo said about his new colleague.
In the morning, “Theo Hernández went to the Sanitas University Hospital La Moraleja, where he satisfactorily passed the medical examination prior to his signing for Real Madrid”, the statement released by the club said.
