Former Wales striker Craig Bellamy believes there is more to the current team than Gareth Bale.
The Real Madrid forward is undoubtedly the most important player in Chris Coleman’s side and has helped them to the verge of qualification for the European Championships next summer.
A win away at Cyprus followed by maximum points against Israel at home in the upcoming international fixtures will see Wales compete in their first international competition finals for the first time since 1958.
And while Bale earns most of the plaudits, former Liverpool and Manchester City man Bellamy says Coleman has a whole host of top quality players in the side.
Speaking to the BBC, he stated: “He is the best Welsh player I have seen in a Wales shirt for winning games singlehandedly like he has at times. But I feel this team is more than that as well.”
He added: “Once they have qualified they will go from strength to strength and we will start seeing more of Aaron Ramsey, more of Joe Allen and Joe Ledley. We will start seeing more players taking bigger control of games and having a bit more of an influence, so it is not just Gareth. I feel this is the exciting thing about this team – it will get better, this is definitely just the start.”
