Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said he was pleased with the attitude and professionalism of his players following their 2-0 over Elche last night.
Los Blancos opened up a four point lead on rivals Barcelona, thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. Los Cules had lost at home to Malaga the previous evening.
Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said the players got the job done and if they carried on playing as they are now, they’ll win a lot of games.
“It was important match given what happened yesterday and has enabled us to pull further away from Barcelona. We did well in every aspect of the game and played very well. We this kind of attitude we are going to win a lot of games,” he said.
“The team really understood that this was an important match and everyone worked really hard. The team are improved bit by bit and we are also coming along in terms of fitness. We have to continue like this. I didn’t have any doubts about the team because they also played extremely well in the first half. We controlled the game”.
Asked about his side’s improvement since the hammering by Atletico a fortnight ago, Ancelotti expressed his delight at the response shown by the players.
“It is pretty clear for all to see that following the defeat to Atlético we have now gone three games without conceding. That means the team are defending well. We didn’t give our opponents many opportunities either today or on Wednesday,” he commented.
