Zinedine Zidane has admitted the victory against Barcelona has been very important for his team. Real Madrid beat their arch-rivals in El Clasico thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and the French manager was pleased with his players’ performance.
“I’m very happy with everything, not just the result,” the Los Blancos boss confessed. “We struggled a bit at first, but that’s normal because it’s a difficult ground to play. It is not an easy ground and I’m very proud of the players,” he added.
Asked about the key men in this victory, Zidane refused to highlight any of them: “I liked all my players. When I see the team together and each one fighting for their friends, for the coach, it’s the best.”
The manager doesn’t want to think about winning La Liga for now: “First, we have to overtake Atletico Madrid in the table, we are still third, seven points behind Barca. Then, we will see.”
“We will fight until the end, but our next match is not a league match. We are thinking about Wolfsburg now,” Zidane concluded.
