Zinedine Zidane spoke with the journalists after the important victory against Real Sociedad away. Borja Mayoral was the key player, scoring one goal and participating in the second one: “He’s part of the squad, he’s young but I know he could be there, he can have an important role and today he’s shown it. I’m happy because this is what we want about the players, so when they play they can do it right. The goal is very important for him, but, besides the goal, it’s about how he’s done it. He played great, he moved and accomplished the mission”.
Zizou was also happy for Gareth Bale, who scored a great goal after the heavy criticism he’s receiving: “I’m glad because people speak a lot about him and he’s shown what he is. We have to be patient with him. At the end is the whole team. We did a good first half and we came in well, with intensity we are hard to be stopped”.
Perhaps Gareth Bale shines more with space and in the counter-attack: “He doesn’t have only that, he has a lot. He’s better with spaces because he’s very fast, but he’s also good technically, when there is no space he’s good. In the goal, he made it because of the speed, 70 metres in 30 km/h, and then he could score”, the French coach said.
It was a tricky game for Los Blancos because Real Sociedad had won all the games until this Sunday: “We got the victory with personality. Real Sociedad made a great start of the season, but we played 90 minutes with great level, especially in the first half. The most important thing to me was the victory. We had to play in the rival pitch, blocking their defence. We did it great”.
Real Madrid made another record and they scored for the 73 game in a row, beating Santos record: “We have to congratulate the players for the record. They work and fight. The beat this record, although we have now to score in another game”.
Finally, Zidane spoke again about the level of the team: “If we don’t take in consideration the Supercups, this was our best game. I always value the last one, today’s game. We have to keep the track, so we can punish our rivals. I value we did it in 90 minutes”.
