Real Madrid Castilla coach Zinedine Zidane has said his sons get treated no differently to any other young player in the youth teams and are expected to maintain high standards.

The Los Blancos and France legend has four sons all playing at different levels in the club. He called up his eldest son, Enzo, to the Real Madrid Castilla squad for the first time this weekend.

But speaking to Le Parisien, Zidane, who was assistant to Carlo Ancelotti in the first team squad last season, said he sons don’t get preferential treatment.

“It’s not always obvious. The fact is that their reality, easy money… but their mother and I are strict with them. Compliance with certain standards is important, so that they behave well and it’s easier. It’s a difficult time for them. I have four boys,” he said.

The man who lead France to glory in the 1998 World Cup and scored a wonder goal for Madrid in the 2002 Champions League final also went on to praise compatriot Karim Benzema.

“Karim Benzema is young enough to be my son at 26 years of age. My oldest son is 19 years old, they are very different players. The game has changed over the years, especially in a physical aspect. As of today, the guys are real athletes,” he commented.

And he added: “When I see Benzema, the guy imposes himself (on the game). We were very serious players (back then), but we weren’t as prepared physically as these guys are now.”
